New success in Japan for André Lotterer

After his victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Audi, Andre Lotterer made another visit to the top step of the podium last weekend in Fuji, Japan, at the fourth round of Formula Nippon (see article), but this time with Toyota. A second trophy this season that allows the German driver to climb to second in the championship behind his team-mate Kazuki Nakajima, who crossed the finish line in second place.

2011 was a good year for André Lotterer, who won the title in Formula Nippon at the end of the season and scored his first victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at his third attempt. The 2012 season could be just as good, with another victory in La Sarthe, this time with the Audi R18 e-tron quattro, the historic first victory for a hybrid, and he already has two wins in Formula Nippon.

André Lotterer no longer races in the Japanese Super GT championship because of time constraints: the German driver is involved in the entire FIA World Endurance Championship with the Audi hybrid. He is currently second in the Drivers' classification, tied with team mates Marcel Fässler and Benoît Tréluyer, and will have a chance to take the lead at the next round of the championship at Silverstone on the 26th August (ticket office here).
