New technical partnership between Zytek and Honda.

Two manufacturers present in the FIA World Endurance Championship through private teams, Zytek and Honda, have signed a partnership agreement to produce a hybrid race car. This association was made public last weekend after the first car designed to race in Super GT 300 (the smaller category of the Japanese touring car championship), did its first laps on the Motegi circuit in Japan.

Honda, which is in the top 10 of global automotive manufacturers, has sold hybrid cars for several years, ranging from the urban 'Jazz' in Europe, the Insight, and the CRZ Sport It is the latter model, equipped with a hybrid engine, which was chosen to race in Super GT championship where a Toyota Prius hybrid is already entered.

With Toyota's TS030 in endurance and the Prius in Super GT, Honda looks to hybrid KERS systems, one area where Zytek has experience and expertise.

Remember that three teams are racing Honda, through HPD (Honda Performance Development): two in LMP1 with JRM and Strakka and in LMP2 with Starworks Motorsport, the current class leader, while Zytek is represented in LMP2 by Greaves Motorsports.
