Porsche confirms Cameron and Nasr for Hypercar category line-up

Dane Cameron (USA) and Felipe Nasr (Brazil) will be included in Porsche Motorsport's works driver line-up from 2022.

Cameron, 33, won the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship DPi title in 2016 and 2019, while Nasr secured the championship in the North American endurance racing series in 2018 and 2021.

The two new works drivers will be involved intensively in the further development of Porsche's LMDh prototypes, which will compete in the headline FIA WEC Hypercar category from 2023.

The LMDh prototype will be entered by Porsche Penske Motorsport in both the WEC and IMSA.

"We are working hard with our partner Penske on the development of the new LMDh prototype and collaborate closely with the chassis manufacturer Multimatic at all times," explains Thomas Laudenbach. "In January, we will begin intensive testing to ensure that we are optimally prepared for our 2023 competition debut."

In LMGTE Pro, Porsche will field two cars for the 2022 WEC season.

Italy’s Gianmaria Bruni and Austria’s Richard Lietz will again share driving duties in the No. 91 car.

However, in the No. 92 sister car, Kévin Estre from France will swap seats with the experienced Dane Michael Christensen. Also driving the car alongside Christensen next year will be Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor.
