First successful test for BMW and reveal of Hybrid V8 Art car

BMW – which is set to join the FIA WEC’s Hypercar class in 2024 – has recently revealed images of its BMW H Hybrid V8 Art car.

The manufacturer will collaborate with Ethiopian artist Julie Mehretu to create the car for next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, round four of FIA WEC.  The news was announced at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City, where the M Hybrid V8 was on display to special guests.

Belgian team WRT also completed its first test with the BMW M Hybrid V8 at Aragon recently, where they underwent three days of testing and had several different drivers at the wheel.

The official press release from BMW Motorsport stated that the team collected a wealth of valuable data right from the start. The BMW M works drivers Jesse Krohn (FIN), Maxime Martin (BEL), Sheldon van der Linde (RSA) and Dries Vanthoor (BEL) took turns behind the wheel while another functional test was conducted by the members of the BMW Junior Team and BMW M works drivers Dan Harper (GBR) and Max Hesse (GER).

In the upcoming weeks and months, numerous additional tests will follow as BMW M Team WRT prepare for their full 2024 WEC campaign.
