Sao Paulo FP3:  Hertz Team JOTA on top in Hypercar; Manthey Porsche leads LMGT3 class

HYPERCAR

  • Callum Ilott sets the pace in the final free practice session at Interlagos before this afternoon’s qualifying session
  • The No.12 Hertz Team JOTA driver completes a 1m24.297s best effort in gold Porsche 963 to lead the 19 car Hypercar field in overcast and occasionally damp conditions
  • Porsche Penske Motorsport place second and third as the No.5 963 leads the No.6 entry. Matt Campbell and Kevin Estre set the times respectively and the top three are covered by just 0.093s
  • Alpine show improved speed with fourth best time as Charles Milesi claims the No.35 Alpine A424 Hypercar’s fastest lap of 1m24.644s
  • BMW M Team WRT are fifth with its No.15 car as Dries Vanthoor peaks with a tour of 1m24.682s
  • That time is 0.1s quicker than the Lamborghini SC63 which continues promising progress as Daniil Kvyat sets best time in 60-minute session
  • The second Hertz Team JOTA Porsche ends session in seventh position as Jenson Button, who won his 2009 F1 title at Interlagos, claims the best time of 1m24.764s
  • Fastest Ferrari of the session is the Le Mans winning No.50 499P as Antonio Fuoco sets the best time
  • Rounding out the top 10 is the No.83 AF Corse Ferrari and the No.93 Peugeot TotalEnergies Hypercar
  • Toyota Gazoo Racing end the final free practice session in 13th and 14th positions with No.7 heading the No.8 car
  • Only significant incident of the session happens after 25 minutes when the No.35 Alpine driven by Matthieu Vaxiviere and the Isotta Fraschini of Carl Bennett have contact at the Bico do Pato corner. Both cars continue but Vaxiviere receives a warning for the collision.

LMGT3

  • Championship points leading No.92 Manthey PureRxcing Porsche 911 RSR LMGT3 car sets the pace in FP3 as Aliaksandr Malykhin achieves best time
  • He peaks with a lap of 1m35.488s to head the No.95 United Autosports McLaren LMGT3 machine by 0.062s. Nicolas Pino claims best time in the black and papaya coloured McLaren
  • Iron Dames take third position in their Lamborghini Huracan as Sarah Bovy sets time of 1m35.639s
  • The second United Autosports McLaren is fourth as Gregoire Saucy continues strong form for the United Autosports run squad
  • TF Sport are fifth with its No.82 Corvette with Sebastien Baud continuing his impressive first ever full WEC season by setting the time
  • Completing the top six in LMGT3 is the No. 54 Vista AF Corse Ferrari driven by the familiar trio of Thomas Flohr, Francesco Castellacci and Davide Rigon
  • Highest placed Aston Martin is the No.27 Heart of Racing car as Alex Riberas achieves fastest lap.

Qualifying for the Rolex 6 Hours of Sao Paulo is scheduled to get underway at 14.30 local time with the LMGT3 qualifying session followed by Hyperpole. The Hypercar qualifying and Hyperpole sessions will follow shortly after.
