Starworks Motorsport choose Tom Kimber-Smith

To replace Stephane Sarrazin who left to join Toyota for the Le Mans 24 Hours (see article), the Starworks Motorsport team called on the talents of Tom Kimber-Smith, who won the LMP2 class last year. 2011 was a good year for the Briton who also won the Le Mans Series in the same class with the Zytek-Nissan of Greaves Motorsport.

Tom Kimber-Smith continued in European Le Mans Series this season, still with Greaves Motorsports, with his team-mates Lucas Ordonez (with Signatech-Nissan last year) and Alex Brundle, son of former F1 driver Martin Brundle . It is the latter who will replace Tom Kimber-Smith at Greaves Motorsport for Le Mans.

The British driver joined Starworks Motorsport after a remarkable performance during the 2012 12 Hours of Sebring, opening round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, with a magnificent third place overall in the #44 Oreca 03 Nissan competing in the LMP2 class. It goes without saying that the American team won its class and at their very first appearance.

Tom Kimber-Smith will therefore try to make it three: his victory in the LMP2 class last year was his second class victory at Le Mans, the first dating from 2006 when the Panoz Esperante won the LMGT2 category, against all predictions.
