Cadillac and McLaren on Top in FP2
Alex Lynn and Sean Gelael proved to be the stars of FP2 at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar this afternoon....
- Cadillac take over at the top as Alex Lynn scorches to fastest time of the day in the second free practice session at the Losail International Circuit in Qatar as teams continue preparations for Friday’s Qatar 1812kms, the first round of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
- Lynn, driving the No.12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA entry completes best lap in 1m39.601s, some 2.5s quicker than the best lap in FP1 set by Ferrari AF Corse driver James Calado
- The lap by the British driver sees Cadillac head the No.50 Ferrari AF Corse 499P Hypercar by 0.305s as cooler temperatures and darkness descends on the Qatari track
- Antonio Fuoco claims the No.50’s best lap as the Prancing Horse continues its strong start to 2025 as it hunts a hat-trick of wins at Le Mans and a first Hypercar manufacturers crown
- Taking third place on the timing screens is the No.20 BMW M Team WRT car Robin Frijns completes a lap that proves to be just 0.170s adrift of the Ferrari
- Cadillac also takes fourth fastest as the No.38 entry laps just 0.049s off the BMW with Sebastien Bourdais behind the wheel of the gold Cadillac V-Series.R Hypercar
- The No.51 Ferrari AF Corse 499P sits fifth as Antonio Giovinazzi powers to a best of 1m40.314s in car he shares with Alessandro Pier Guidi and FP1 quick man Calado
- Fastest Toyota Gazoo Racing entry is the No.8 GR010 Hybrid Hypercar which takes sixth position in the hands of Brendon Hartley as EC’s most decorated top class manufacturer aims for more silverware in 2025
- Alpine make progress as the No.36 car of Mick Schumacher, Frederic Makowiecki and Jules Gounon ends 90-minute session seventh. The sister No.35 Alpine A424 Hypercar of Charles Milesi, Ferdinand Habsburg and Paul-Loup Chatin also takes a Top 10 position in ninth. Schumacher and Milesi set the quickest laps.
- In between Les Bleues is the No.83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P Hypercar as Robert Kubica claims best time. Top ten Hypercars are covered by just 1.2 seconds.

- United Autosports McLaren surge to the front in the ultra-competitive LMGT3 category as Sean Gelael, who moved from BMW to the Papaya-army for this season claims P1
- Gelael, who shares the No.95 McLaren with Darren Leung and Marino Sato, peaks on a 1m54.557 best
- That time is just over 0.1s ahead of the No.78 Akkodis ASP Lexus taken to second position by in-form Ben Barnicoat.
- The sister Lexus of Jose-Maria Lopez puts in late quick lap to make it a 1-2 for the team
- Lapping just 0.149s behind the No.78 the No.21 VISTA AF Corse entry of Alessio Rovera, Simon Mann and Francois Heriau takes fourth place in Ferrari 296 LMGT3 car, as Mann achieves 1m55.324s lap
- No.54 VISTA AF Corse Ferrari continues the symmetry of the order by ending the session fifth with Davide Rigon achieving the best lap
- Rounding out the top six is the quickest Aston Matin, the Racing Spirit of Leman Vantage LMGT3, with Eduardo Barrichello already making his mark on his WEC debut. The son of 11-time Grand Prix winner Rubens will have support of his father this week
- The new Iron Lynx Mercedes clear issues from FP1 and cars circulate 17th and 18th in LMGTE3 collating more valuable data as they prepare for WEC debut on Friday
