Verstappen and Grosjean to compete in 6 Hours of Spa
Big names on board for Le Mans Virtual Series
The third round of the Le Mans Virtual Series this coming weekend is attracting some big names in motorsport. Max Verstappen and Romain Grosjean will be among those taking part in what promises to be an exciting race.
The iconic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps which, in real life, hosts a round of the FIA WEC and ELMS every season has long been a favourite venue for drivers from all over the planet. It’s proving to be quite a pull in the virtual world, if the entry list for the 6 Hours of Spa – the third round of the Le Mans Virtual Series – is anything to go by.
The two-time Formula One world champion Max Verstappen will line up in the #1 Oreca 07 LMP2 fielded by Team Redline. His team-mates will be Jeffrey Rietveld and Maximilian Benecke. Verstappen will be joined on the grid by R8G Esports team owner and IndyCar star Romain Grosjean. He will share the wheel of his team’s #7 Oreca with Martin Hemmingsen and Ulas Ozyildirim.
LMP championship leader Floyd Vanwall-Burst will be seeking to extend his slim two-point advantage over Team Redline. In the GTE class, Oracle Red Bull Racing will be out to show that its poor performance at Monza is just a bad memory by returning to winning ways with the Porsche 911 RSR GTE. BMW Team Redline and SF Velas Esports will also be in the hunt.
The race will be run on the rFactor2 platform with full, uninterrupted coverage from 12:30 UTC on Saturday 5 November. Forty cars will line up in the two classes (24 LMPs and 16 GTEs) for what promises to be an eventful race with wet weather a likely factor. Yes, it rains in virtual Belgium too, whatever the season!
