Who’s new for WEC Season 8? Part 3

The next instalment where we explore the new LMP2 entries for WEC Season 8.

A total of four teams have made the step from ELMS to the world stage for the 2019/2020 season including United Autosports, who you can read more about HERE.

However, three more teams will also join the highly-competitive LMP2 category this year - read more about them below.

CETILAR RACING
Cetilar Racing, which was previously known as Cetilar Villorba Corse, has been a regular in ELMS since 2015.  The Italian team will run a Dallara P217 Gibson with Andrea Belicchi, Roberto Lacorte and Giorgio Sernagiotto as its driver line up.  All three drivers have previously competed for the team and Belicchi knows the WEC particularly well having competed with Rebellion Racing in LMP1 for three seasons (2012-2014).

COOL RACING
2019 ELMS LMP2 debutants Cool Racing will also make its WEC debut at Barcelona with its brand new Oreca 07 - Gibson. Quadruple Le Mans LMP2 winner Nicolas Lapierre will join the team’s line-up for Season 8, with the Frenchman having already competed two ELMS rounds this year with the Swiss-based team.  Joining Lapierre in the new LMP2 team will be Cool Racing’s regular drivers Antonin Borga and Alexandre Coigny.

HIGH CLASS RACING
Danish team High Class Racing was founded back in 1989 and has been racing in ELMS since 2017, finishing sixth on its debut year in LMP2 with the Dallara.  The team entered this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans with experienced Swiss driver Mathias Beche and rookie team-mates Fjordbach and Dennis Andersen finishing 16th overall.  High Class Racing will drive an Oreca 07 – Gibson for Season 8 with American driver Mark Patterson named as a driver for the official pre-season test in Barcelona.
