WEC drivers keeping Super Fit ready for Mexico
There may be a break away from FIA WEC race action for a few weeks, but many of our drivers are keeping busy – race fit and physically fit so they’ll be ready for the 6 Hours of Mexico on 3rd September.
The entry list for today’s Spa 24 Hours for GT3 cars features many names which are well known to the WEC, including LMP2 stars Filipe Albuquerque and Bruno Senna from RGR Sport, Pipo Derani (Tequila Patron ESM) and Nicolas Lapierre (Signatech Alpine), plus Darren Turner and Rui Aguas from LMGTE. Good luck and safe racing to all racing at this wonderful Belgian track.
Tomorrow there will be a challenge of a different nature for Porsche Team’s Mark Webber. Like many top drivers he puts in hundreds of kilometres on a bike to keep fit, but 100 miles…?
The British-based Australian will be one of the celebrity cyclists taking part alongside 24,000 participants in Sunday’s RideLondon event, a 100-mile course which follows the layout of the 2012 Olympic road race. Webber will be riding alongside the eldest son of Sir Jackie Stewart, raising money for disadvantaged young people in East London.
“The roads are closed,” he said, “which makes it an unbelievable opportunity for everybody, including myself. I’m very excited. It’s nice to do a distance that’s a challenge for everyone, and also a good day out.”
Have fun Mark and enjoy the ride!
