2025-30 LMP2 Period Defined
The World Motor Sport Council sat in Paris last Wednesday and was hosted by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.
Further key technical principles of the next generation of LMP2, which were initially unveiled at Le Mans, have been defined.
As announced previously, these cars will be based on the same platform as the LMDh cars competing in the Hypercar class.
The official FIA bulletin detailed that ‘the homologation cycle for the cars will cover the 2025-2030 period. There will be a limited selling price of a complete car as well as capped retail price of selected components. If required, adjustment of performance (AoP) will be conducted up to two times per season.’
Lola Returns
A well-known name in the world of international motorsport has been re-born as the Lola name will return to the tracks in the coming years.
The British company, which was founded by Eric Broadley in 1958 has been acquired by IMSA racer Till Bechtolsheimer.
Lola built cars raced at Le Mans between 1960 and 2013 with crowd favourites such as the Lola T70, Lola T210, Lola-MG and Lola-Aston Martin scoring many top results. The Lola LMP2 range also took five wins in category between 2000 and 2007.
Bechtolsheimer, who acquired the company from the Birrane family said that he was intent on making Lola “a leading design and engineering force in modern motorsport.”
“I firmly believe that our biggest asset is the Lola name and what it means to so many in the motorsport industry, it will help us to attract great talent and form lasting partnerships,” added the US based Englishman.
