Identification

All tyres must be identifiable at any time (including when tyres are placed on the car) through the use of an RFID (radio frequency identification) detection system put in place by the FIA. When tyres are mounted on the car, RFID must be on the outer side of the tyre.

Each tyre must be identified by RFID and a barcode. All references must be declared to the Technical Delegates at least 48 hours before the start of the event. This list of designated tyres will be notified to the stewards at the beginning of the event and the use of non-declared tyres is forbidden throughout the FIA WEC.

Hypercar and LMP2

Goodyear is the exclusive tyre supplier for LMP2.

The different tyre manufacturers may declare to the FIA/ACO, for the full season, a maximum of three tyre specifications for all the models of cars entered in the category. Two specifications must be declared at least 48 hours before the Prologue.

LMGTE Pro and LMGTE Am

The different tyre manufacturers may declare to the FIA/ACO, for the full season, a maximum of three tyre specifications per model of cars entered in the category. Two specifications must be declared at least 48 hours before the Prologue.

One additional specification can be declared at least during the season. These three specifications are frozen for the duration of the season.

No later than 48 hours before the opening of technical scrutineering, tyre manufacturers must designate two tyre specifications entered per race (three for Le Mans 24 Hours) from among the 3 specifications designated for the season. Only these two tyre specifications (three for the 24 hours of Le Mans) may be used by a competitor on an Event.

Tyres for wet track

Unless specifically authorised in the present regulations, wet- track tyres may be used only after the track has been declared wet by the Clerk of the Course / the Race Director for the practice session (free practice, qualifying) and the race.

A model of each profile of wet-weather or intermediate tyre must be deposited with the FIA at least 15 days before the first Event. The re-cutting of the tyres is strictly prohibited.

For the LMGTE Am category, the different tyre manufacturers may declare to the FIA, for the full season, a maximum of one specification for wet-weather tyres and one specification for intermediate tyres per model of cars, at least 48 hours before the Prologue. The declared specifications are frozen for the whole season.

A model of each profile of wet-weather or intermediate tyre must be deposited with the FIA at least 15 days before the first Event. The re-cutting of the tyres is strictly prohibited.

During the season, a competitor can only change tyre manufacturer once per championship, subject to the required minimum of one month’s notice prior to the beginning of the event.

Penalty for breaching the tyre rule: Stop and Go 3 minutes per infringement.
